AI can be biased as well that generates stuff such as text, images, or videos. It may produce content that is unjust or offensive to certain groups if it is trained on biased data. It can reproduce stereotypes or omit certain views.

Real-world examples of AI bias and potential risks

AI can make mistakes due to bias and become the cause of hurting people and organizations. For instance, may refuse chances unfairly, be wrongly identified in photos, and be punished without any valid reason. This can damage the company’s reputation and also harm specific groups and societies.

In the medical field, AI can be biased if it lacks adequate data on women or minority groups. This may lead to AI tools giving poorer results to these groups. For instance, certain AI systems are not as accurate in diagnosing disease among African-American patients compared to white patients.

In job hiring, AI that scans CVs can also be biased. Even though the word “ninja” isn’t necessary for the position, it may draw more men than women to a job posting that uses it. This may result in unjust hiring practices.
